New film from Eastman Kodak - TRI-X 400 and Ektar 100
Kodak’s latest offering is available now in two speeds.
Eastman Kodak has announced two new film stock’s, available direct from the factory, continuing its move to supply from the source.
First up is Ektar 100, in both 135 and 120 formats. Ektar has finer grain than even Portra, along with vivid colours and saturation.
Then there is TRI-X 400, a black and white film, offering high detail, edge sharpness and classic grain structure. At 400 speed it should be a good choice for a wide variety of shooting situations. Ektar is a high end film and it comes at an eye watering price too. £18.90 for 36 exposures of 35mm could keep some from using it for anything but paying clients and the very enthusiastic hobbyist.
I’ll be trying both films out, with a review post and video on the YouTube channel coming soon, so come back to see my findings. If you would like to be notified, then join the newsletter below. I for one, am excited to try these new stocks and it’s great to see Kodak looking in rude health.
